Can You Charge an Electric Car with a Regular Outlet?
Yes, but it's not the most efficient option available. We recommend using what's known as a Level 2 charger, frequently found in public charging stations through out Florida and also available for installation in your garage. Thanks to its 240V design, Level 2 chargers represent a fast and efficient charging option that's the perfect sweet spot between a standard 120V home outlet and the ultra-fast Level 3 chargers.

Charging Myths Debunked
Myth: "Higher kW charging stations charge EVs faster"
FACT: Charging speed is determined by the capability of the charging station to deliver power and the vehicle's ability to accept power. The lower of the two limits determines the vehicle's charging speed. For AC Level 2 charging, the vehicle's charging speed limit is determined by its onboard charger. For DC Fast Charging, the vehicle's charging speed limit is determined by its battery configuration.
Myth: "EVs cannot handle long road trips"
FACT: At a rate of up to 150 kW, DC fast charging can replenish an extended range Mustang Mach-E battery from 10% to 80% in ~ 45 minutes.* It's a good practice to charge to 100% before a long trip because on a DC fast charger, the charge starts to slow down after 80% to help protect the battery. If you're concerned about the time it takes to charge, charge to 100% before leaving and only charge up to 80% at each public charging stop.
Myth: "The Ford Mobile Power Cord (MPC) is out of stock and not available to customers"
FACT: MPC is available and most customers can easily manage their home charging needs using MPC, the 240 volt adapter, and a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Reminder, the MPC is no longer standard equipment with Ford EVs. The are two MPCs: 30amp for F-150 Lightning and 32amp for Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit.
